Tugela Falls is a complex of seasonal waterfalls located in the Drakensberg (Dragon’s Mountains) of Royal Natal National Park in KwaZulu-Natal Province, Republic of South Africa. According to some measurements, it is the world’s tallest waterfall. A revisited validation of waterfall measurements is not available, and there’s still uncertainty whether Tugela or Venezuela’s Angel Falls is the tallest (both measurements were taken at considerable distance from the two waterfalls).
The combined total drop of its five distinct free-leaping falls is officially 948 m (3,110 ft). In 2016, however, a Czech scientific expedition took new measurements, making the falls 983 m (3,225 ft) tall. The data were sent to the World Waterfall Database for confirmation.The source of the Tugela River (Zulu for ‘sudden’) is the Mont-Aux-Sources plateau which extends several kilometers beyond The Amphitheatre escarpment from which the falls drop.

Enjoy this 11.7-km out-and-back trail near Bonjaneni, Kwazulu-Natal. Generally considered a challenging route, it takes an average of 4 h 47 min to complete. This is a very popular area for birding, hiking, and walking.

Departure at 07H00 from Guest Lodge and travel through the World Heritage Site of the uKhahlamba Drakensberg Park, with regular stops, following the Mkomazana River up the scenic Sani Valley to the South African Border Post (border formalities).
We continue up the Sani Pass, which was built by David Alexander between 1948 and 1954 viewing the Hodgson’s Peaks and the Giants Cup.
Climbing to an altitude of 2.874m and zigzag upwards beneath towering cliffs, buttresses, past waterfalls and unique flora and bird life.After having completed the border formalities at Lesotho Border we visit the village to learn more about the Basotho culture. We get invited into a Basotho Hut, tasting of Basotho Home-Made Bread and Traditional beer. The guests get to interact with Basotho People.
We arrive at the “Highest Pub in Africa” (2.874m) for lunch (excluded in the price). The restaurant offers international and South African meals from the A la Carte menu. We have decided to move venue.
Descending the legendary Sani Pass with a spectacular view into the Sani Valley.
Arrival in Underberg approximately at 15h30-16h00 and immediately be transferred to Durban airport for the late flight out !(timing can be adjusted)?
